Find Us on Threads!

The Chamber is trying out the newest social media platform from Meta, and we’re looking to connect with you! If you’re on Instagram, it’s easy to add Threads to your communications and marketing strategy.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp,  introduced Threads on July 5 as a Twitter alternative. Threads is powered by Instagram, with connected log-ins and information carryover for consistent personalization across the two platforms. Unlike Instagram, Threads is designed to allow easy sharing of links and posts, for a Twitter-like experience without the character limit.

Interest in the app exploded during its first week, when over 100 million accounts were opened. The frenzy seems to have cooled – CNN reports that less than 24 million of those accounts were daily active users by mid July – but the potential pool of 2 billion Instagram users still gives Threads plenty of room to grow as an influential platform. Meanwhile, Twitter continues to see precipitous drops in ad revenue and user engagement, and is going through a muddled rebranding process with a new name, “X”.

If you opt to try Threads, you'll find that the app is currently designed only for mobile use. When you open your Instagram-linked account, you will be invited to follow the same accounts that you do on Instagram – and your Insta followers on Threads will receive an automatic follow request for your Threads account.
