Celebrate National Small Business Week May 4 – 10
April 29, 2025

For more than 60 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration has celebrated National Small Business Week (NSBW), which acknowledges the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. Take advantage of special SBA and Chamber programming to boost your business!
Defined by state and federal agencies as firms with fewer than 500 employees, small businesses account for over 99.5 percent of businesses in Illinois and employ over 2.3 million people in the state. These companies cover the gamut of industries, including Transportation and Warehousing; Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services; Retail Trade; Construction; Real Estate; Health Care and Social Assistance; and much more. As noted by Governor J.B. Pritzker, "In communities across Illinois, small businesses are sustaining quality jobs, anchoring downtowns and commercial districts, providing vital goods and services, playing an integral role in supply chains, and anchoring the overall strength and diversity of our economy."
From May 5 to 9, the Chamber invites members and local business owners to stop by the office for coffee and conversation about programs, marketing opportunities, and other member benefits. Staff will be available to answer questions and assist with strategies to make the most of your membership. Appointments are encouraged; call (847) 498-5555 to make arrangements.
The US SBA offers an annual Virtual Summit on May 6 & 7 featuring educational presentations by experts, exhibit booths, business resources, peer-to-peer networking rooms, and expert business advice from SCORE mentors. The summit is open free of charge to all current and aspiring business owners; registration is required.
