Signed up? Show up! New Year’s Resolutions for Membership Success
December 29, 2025
A new year is the perfect time to reset, refocus, and recommit—especially when it comes to making the most of your Chamber membership and networking. Whether you’re a longtime member or just getting started, these simple do’s and don’ts can help turn good intentions into real results in the year ahead.
DO say yes to events.
Try something new! The Chamber offers a wide range of networking events, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities at various times of day - there’s something to fit everyone’s schedule and interests.
DON’T be a no-show.
If you register for an event, attend! This is especially important for Business After Hours events. Our hosts are making a huge investment and rely on registration numbers for catering and space accommodations.
We know life happens, so if you must cancel a registration please let us know as soon as possible. Some events have limited attendance - so if you are not sure, please let someone else attend.
DO follow up with the people you meet at events.
People make referrals to businesspeople they know, like and trust. A quick email, LinkedIn connection, or coffee invitation to individuals you connect with at an event is the best way to start building productive relationships.
DON’T send blast emails pitching your business.
Chamber networking is about relationships first, sales second. Personalized follow-ups are welcomed; mass sales emails are just plain annoying.
DO take advantage of member marketing opportunities.
Your membership offers many no-cost platforms to deliver more visibility for your business. Contact Carolyn Gessner, Communications Director, to discuss Exclusive Offers, job posts, and ways to connect through social media and the Chamber website.
DON’T neglect your microsite.
An outdated listing is a missed opportunity. Keep your contact info, description, logo, and links current so fellow members and the community can easily find and connect with you. Feel free to contact the Chamber staff for assistance.
This year, resolve to show up, follow up, and get involved. Let the Chamber team know what you’re looking to achieve, we’re here to help.
